Salalah Eye: Oman’s tallest observation wheel set to open with 360-degree Arabian Sea views
New attraction aims to boost Dhofar’s growing tourism appeal
DUBAI – A new landmark is set to transform Salalah’s skyline as the Salalah Eye observation wheel prepares to welcome visitors from August 15.
Located at Al Haffa Beach in Oman’s Dhofar Governorate, the attraction is expected to become one of the highlights of this year’s Khareef season. Rising 55 metres above the Arabian Sea, it will offer sweeping views of the coastline, mountains and the region’s distinctive green landscapes.
Developed near the New Haffa Souq in cooperation with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and Dhofar Municipality, the project is designed to strengthen Salalah’s growing tourism appeal and support efforts to position Dhofar as a year-round destination.
Salalah Eye
The Salalah Eye features 30 fully enclosed, air-conditioned cabins, each accommodating up to six passengers. Every rotation lasts between eight and 12 minutes, giving visitors uninterrupted 360-degree panoramic views of the Arabian Sea and surrounding coastline. On clear days, visibility can extend up to 42 kilometres.
The attraction will operate daily from 10am until 11pm. Standard tickets are priced at RO7, while Early Bird tickets cost RO6 for rides before 5pm and are available on site only. Private family cabins accommodating up to six guests can be booked for RO28.
Boost for Oman tourism
The opening comes as Dhofar prepares for another busy Khareef season, supported by expanded domestic and international flight connections and a packed calendar of seasonal events.
According to the National Centre for Statistics and Information, Dhofar welcomed 1,070,738 visitors during the 2025 Khareef season, up from 1,047,751 in 2024 and 962,196 in 2023. Visitor spending also climbed to RO125 million in 2025, compared with RO121 million the previous year and RO103 million in 2023, underlining the season’s growing contribution to the governorate’s hospitality, retail, transport, entertainment and small business sectors.
